Crockpot Beef Stroganoff

Follow Me on Pinterest

What you need:

2 lbs stew beef
2 cans condensed
golden mushroom soup (no substitutes!)
1 cup chopped onion
2 Tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 14 oz can beef broth
8 oz button mushrooms, cleaned and quartered (optional)
salt and pepper to taste

8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream

What you do:

In the crockpot, combine the meat, soup, onion, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, mushrooms, salt and pepper. Cook on low for 5-6 hours.

Stir in cream cheese and sour cream about half an hour before serving, stirring every ten minutes or so to break up cream cheese.

Serve over cooked egg noodles.  After the egg noodles have cooked, I like to add them directly into the crockpot for about half an hour for the flavors to mingle and thicken up a bit.

If the sauce is not thick enough for you, add some cornstarch and water.

Makes 6 generous servings.

ENJOY!

  1. You forgot to list the noodles on the "what you need" list!

But I'm making this right now! I'll update when it's done! :D

    1. Question do you leave sour cream out like you do cream cheese...

  2. It's simple and very good. Not even the leftovers are wasted at our house.

  3. Was a little disappointed, turned out very runny. How does your cream cheese melt in half hour? Mine was still chunky.

    2. I always mix some of the sauce with the cream cheese in a separate bowl to get it smooth first, then add it into the crockpot

  4. My recipe is similar to this and does not turn out runny. I do not use broth at all. That may be the cause of this. Also I put the cream cheese in at the beginning of cooking this. I also substitute lipton onion soup mix for the actual onion. I use all of the other ingredients the same. Its yummy!

  5. I just made this and had to dump it down the sink. I followed the recipe to the letter. The meat was so tough that we could not chew it. It was stew meat from Costco. I cooked on low for 5 1/2 hours. It was also very runny and could have had more flavor. Total bust for me.

  6. My family loves this recipe! Made it many times now and it always comes out perfect. I put the cooked noodles in and let it cook a bit longer like suggested and it always thickens up nice. Definitely a family favorite!

  8. I use ground chuck and make a thickener with flour and some beef bullion cubes and it turns out just great! I also use the cream of mushroom soup and the other fixings..very enjoyable.

  10. This is three best! I did a couple things different. I used 2 lbs of hamburger, didn't have beef broth so used straight beef bullion and I made this on the stovetop not the crockpot. Turned out perfect. Thank you!
